According to Intel, Ultrabooks could make up to 40 percent of laptop sales by the end of the year. Maybe that is true but that will soon change next year. As reported from PC Pro which said that at Consumer Electronics Show in January 2012 there will be between 30 and 50 new Ultrabooks to launch.

Different from notebooks, ultrabook is light and thin laptop which usually has 3 pounds weighs or could be less and less than 0.8 inches thick. They have good performance and low power of solid state disks (SSD) with fast boot or quick resume technology, they also support for Intel Core i-series chips processor even the latest one.
Intel hopes to add touch screens display to the ultrabooks platform. And that is not so surprising because this is not the first time Intel develops platform for portable laptop which is better than netbook. The company has launched their Ultra Low Voltage chips for laptop but didn’t get much share in the market. They keep focus on Intel Atom chip processor, but the chip is not as powerful as chip processor in most laptops today.
With portable design and powerful features, Intel and partners try to justify the high price of these Ultrabooks, saying that these ultrabooks are the only laptop that customer needs. Today, the cheapest ultrabooks is Toshiba Portege z835 with price starting at $799, that still make ultrabooks as expensive laptops. But as PC companies enter the ultrabook market, the price will also be going down and we hope that the ‘event’ will be happen soon especially next year.
